  1. Responsive sites are slower and have a heavier page load: If this is an issue, it is due to developers not following best practices and building for mobile considerations first. “Progressive Enhancement” first ensures that users have a great experience on a mobile platform and then further enhances the experience as more capable platforms become available.
  2. Responsive design means hiding content: In fact, it does the opposite and helps make content accessible to everyone, across all screens sizes, resolutions and devices.
  3. Responsive design is the worst of all worlds: While responsive design does require more thinking and upfront work for designers, developers and content creators, and requires more collaboration than creating separate sites for mobile and desktop, the resulting website has a better thought-out user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) than when designed separately.   4. Responsive design makes apps obsolete: Apps still have a valuable place in the mobile world. Responsive design can’t compete with the richer, more immersive experience an app can provide, but you do have to download an app and some people are just not willing to do that unless it’s something they know they will use on a regular basis.
  5. Responsive design harms typography: It doesn’t inherently harm typography as long as the designer accounts for this issue and uses relative units of measurement for font-size, padding, margins and layout.
